Year 8 (Under 13) National 5-a-side Champions

Congratulations to our Year 8 football squad who won the National 5-a-side Cup run by British Transport Police. Our A and B squads qualified from the Regional event after both finishing top their respective leagues and qualifying for the regional semi-final stages. Our A team went on to become regional champions after a thrilling final where they beat Bishopston.

Once again, both squads were in excellent form during the National finals and although our B team didn’t qualify from their group, they played some excellent football which we were very proud of. Our A team went on to win their group once again, qualifying for the semi-final where they met Ystylafera and convincingly came out on top. Bishop of Llandaff (Cardiff) awaited us in the final and the boys had the chance to put right a Welsh Cup loss from last season. We were outstanding in this game and played some truly excellent football with patient build up play and clinical finishing when it was needed.

Special mention for Dylan Perkins who was voted as Player of the Tournament by the organisers, referees and other coaches. An excellent achievement given the quality of performances on the day.

National Championships do not come around often but this hopefully the start of something more regular for Bishop Vaughan.
