Year 12 Students Attend UNIQ Summer School
Year 12 students from BVS are attending a summer school run by Oxford University.
The UNIQ summer school offers high achieving AS students the chance to spend a week studying their chosen subject at Oxford University. This invaluable experience will support their university applications next year.
Hollie and Ira have both kept in touch with the school whilst away and agree that the summer school is a fantastic opportunity.
Hollie is attending the Theology summer school and described her activities: ‘We were given a mock tutorial and assigned a topic of study – mine is the development of the depiction of baptism in Christian literature. I’m now spending 3-4 hours a day researching and writing about my topic. We also have lessons on related topics, such as Hebrew. I’m gaining such a depth of knowledge, which is exactly what universities like Oxford and Cambridge want.’
BVS offers a great deal of support for high achieving students wishing to attend Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities. Pupils or parents interested in knowing more should speak to Miss Siddika, the More Able and Talented Co-ordinator at the school.
