Reaching Wider Programme
40 Year 11 students gained valuable lessons in study techniques when they visited Swansea Metropolitan University at the end of October. Pupils worked with university students to develop new revision tools, preparing them for a demanding year ahead. Feedback from the university was glowing, giving extremely high praise for the maturity and motivation shown by our students on the day.
100 Year 10 and 40 Year 11 students joined in with interactive study skills at school in November, being shown how to have fun when recalling lists, using images and creating mind maps to enhance their learning. The parent pupil work shop at the end of the day was very popular among parents of all year groups.
Further Education Road Show – Cardiff University
All students in Y10 and Y11 gained a student’s eye view of life after Sixth Form in an extended assembly in November. The aim of the talk was to encourage students to know what options are available to them when they leave Key Stage 5 education, so that they can make sensible choices as they make the transition from GCSE to Sixth Form Study.
