A group of pupils from year 7 and 8 took part in an inclusive futures sports event on Friday 6th November. The morning was organised and delivered by the 5×60 team. They were assisted by Darren Carew an inspirational speaker and sports coach. Darren was a soldier in Afghanistan where he was badly injured in an explosion which resulted in his leg being amputated. Since then Darren has trained and competed in a number of sports including athletics and wheelchair basketball. The session he delivered was thoroughly enjoyed by all the pupils and staff! Pupils also had the opportunity to participate in sitting volleyball and boccia.
To build on the success of the day we are hoping to introduce a lunchtime sitting volleyball and boccia club.
The event was also attended by pupils from St Joseph’s Clydach and Pen y Bryn.
