Saturday Science Club at Swansea University

Bishop Vaughan pupils from Year 9 are attending a Saturday Science Club at Swansea University over the next two months. The club is run by the Reaching Wider Partnership and has been designed specifically to encourage girls to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine. Six pupils are spending their Saturday mornings attending workshops and practical sessions on topics including Marine Biology, Genetics and Astrophysics. The girls enjoyed their first session and are looking forward to the next session. All agree they can see the benefits of the club for their university and career plans. Hannah, one of the attendees,  said: ‘The club is really interesting and there’s also staff there from different subjects, including Marine Biology, which I am interested in. I can ask her for advice and information on studying that in the future, which is really helpful.’
