A painting of Swansea City legend and former Bishop Vaughan pupil Robbie James has kindly been donated to the school. The painting was done by local artist Chris Chapman and given to a former pupil, Keith Thomas, who is taking part in a 365 day selfie challenge (#selfie365me) in order to raise money for Marie Curie.
Keith auctioned the painting and it was bought by another former Bishop Vaughan pupil, Police Officer Steve Lee, who then wanted to donate the painting to the school in order to celebrate the life and achievements of Robbie James, linking those back to the school where they treasured so many great memories.
Robbie James attended Bishop Vaughan between 1968 and 73 before going on to join Swansea City where he made 483 appearances, also receiving 47 Wales caps.
We are delighted to receive such a kind gift and it makes it very special coming from a former pupil who wanted to share it with us. As a department we want to celebrate the rich sporting talent we have had here whether past, present or future. We also aim to set the highest possible standards for our pupils to aspire to and who better to serve as role models than the likes of Robbie James, Chris Coleman and Enzo Maccarinelli.
