The Year 12 Classics class visited the Egypt Centre at Swansea University last week.
As part of their studies about life in the Ancient World, the Year 12 students had a tour of the Egypt Centre where they learned more about Egyptian society, beliefs and customs.
As part of the day, the students learned about the importance of death rituals in Egyptian culture and performed their own mummification ceremony. They also handled artefacts recovered from archaeological digs.
The students agreed the visit helped further their knowledge of the Ancient World. Bethan, one of the Classics students, commented: ‘It was a really interesting visit and it was fascinating to handle the artefacts, knowing that they were created and used thousands of years ago by the same people we are learning about.’
