Pupils Visit Hay Festival

A group of pupils from Year 8 and 9 visited the Hay Festival last month.

The Hay Festival is an annual festival of literature. Speakers from around the world are invited to talk at Hay on a variety of topics and famous authors, politicians and celebrities regularly attend. This year, the pupils attended talks by the renowned journalist Sue Turton, who discussed her career and encouraged pupils to take an active part in politics, and Eoin Colfer, the author of the Artemis Fowl books. Eoin Colfer discussed the tragic inspiration behind his most recent book. Pupils also had the opportunity to buy books from the Festival bookshop and meet the authors to have their books signed.

The trip was possible thanks to funding from the Arts Council of Wales. The day was enjoyed by all pupils who attended and a video about the day is being created to share with the rest of the school.
