GCSE Jubilation at Bishop Vaughan!

Following last week’s celebrations of excellent Sixth Form outcomes, the Main Hall was once again the venue today for pupils’ joyous reactions to opening their results envelopes! Hard work certainly paid off for this year’s GCSE pupils, with grades reflecting their focus and their efforts. We were delighted to congratulate them on all that has been achieved, and we are looking forward to welcoming back to the Sixth Form in September!

Incredibly, twins Jasmine and Lucy Hoskins collected ‘twin’ results today – each gaining an identical set of 8A* grades, an A grade and a ‘9’ (equivalent to a high A* grade!).  Lucy stated: “I am so proud of my results. The hard work has paid off.” Asked for words of encouragement for next year’s GCSE pupils, Lucy quoted Taylor Swift: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. And I planned so much!” Jasmine added “Always trust in your abilities.” She also stated “I am so thankful for all of the staff and for my friends and family who have supported me so much.” With an impressive raft of qualifications which included 7A* grades, Hunny Ward, also pictured, added “I could not have achieved these results without the hard work and support of the wonderful staff at Bishop Vaughan” - all three girls showing their characteristic humility despite exceptionally hard work on their part.

Riya Scaria, who achieved very highly also, echoed those sentiments: “I am so grateful for my teachers who have supported me throughout my GCSEs.” She added: “I believe that no matter how many times you might fall, God will always pick you back up.” Riya is pictured with Roshel Fernando, whose outstanding outcomes also led her to reflect on the importance of effort, as well as to express gratitude to her teachers.

Boris Romanowski’s words of advice and wisdom for the incoming GCSE cohort were “If you don’t take that risk, you’ll work for someone who did!”

Joseph Usuroh counselled “Learn from your errors and work daily to become a better version of yourself.” Wise words indeed, in both cases!

Christine Anto obtained 12 GCSEs, ten of which were A* and A grades, and she looks forward to studying Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and History in September. She is pictured with Harrison Morgans, who gained eleven excellent GCSE grades and who reflected that “it’s all been worth it in the end.” Evie Morgan, also pictured, having achieved brilliant results, will be studying Art, History, Classics and Criminology next year.

Ogechi, who looks forward to pursuing a career in Psychology, is pictured with Marian, who aims to study Law, and Zahraa, who is keen to become a midwife. All were excited to see their ambitions become a step closer after receiving today’s results!

Year 10 pupils had similar success stories, with Eryn Thomas picking up 6A* grades and an A. Incredibly, Eryn achieved full marks in no less than five of those qualifications! She stated that receiving her results felt “just incredible!” Lydia Protheroe collected identical grades and stated that she was delighted to see all of the revision had paid off! Both girls pursue a wide range of interests in addition to their academic studies and we know that they will go from strength to strength in the years ahead!

Headteacher Emma Pole stated “We congratulate all of our pupils on their outcomes and we are utterly proud of each and every one of them. It is a privilege to support them in becoming the exceptional young people that they are, and to share these years with them. Their parents were brimming with pride today, and rightly so. There will certainly be lots of celebrations this evening! We’re looking forward to welcoming our pupils back in September to continue on the exciting paths that they have chosen.”
