Covid-19 Update, 10th December 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

As a number of you may have already heard, the Welsh Government are changing the isolation period for contacts of those who have tested positive for Covid-19.

The self-isolation period is being reduced from fourteen days to ten days. Importantly, we have received confirmation that this will also be applied retrospectively for those already isolating. In short:

  1. contacts with a last date in isolation of 10/12, 11/12, 12/12 or 13/12 have had their last day in isolation changed to 9/12.

  2. contacts with a last date in isolation of 14/12 or later have their last date in isolation reduced by 4 days (14/12 becomes 10/12 etc).

The dates for return to school are unaffected due to the concerns outlined in my last letter to you: Microsoft Word - 9th December 2020.docx (filesusr.com), nevertheless we are keen to ensure that all families are aware that the dates for self-isolation have altered in this way and that their children are able to leave their homes according to the dates specified above.

For clarity, under the new information received:

  • Year 7 pupils are no longer in isolation; they will be returning to school tomorrow as planned.

  • Sixth Form pupils, who have been isolating up to and including Friday 11th are no longer expected to isolate. They will be continuing their blended learning, however, as outlined in the letter linked above.

I trust that this will be welcome news for the families affected. I know that the families in our school community will continue to prioritise safety and follow the guidance about not mixing with those outside their households (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-wales-55247641) however I am sure that the news that the affected groups are now able to exercise outside the home will be welcomed.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Pole
