Osaze Aghedo – Swansea Junior Sportsman of the Year 2017

Congratulations to Osaze Aghedo for achieving this very prestigious award. Osaze is a very mature and pleasant young man who has represented our school in Athletics, Football and Rugby as well as currently being a Sixth Form representative and sports leader. His main focus is Athletics and the event that he competes in is the triple jump. Since competing for the school in Year 7, Osaze was picked up by Swansea Harriers. From here, he went on to compete for Afan Nedd Tawe and Wales. He has set new County and National records throughout his 7 years of competition and he has recently jumped the longest distance in Wales for all Men’s age categories including Seniors. His recent Personal Best jump of 15.13 metres is another statement that this 17 year old has a very bright future ahead of him. Osaze now looks forward to studying for his Sports Degree and further progressing his triple jump with the fantastic opportunities and facilities either at Loughborough or Brunel.

 His achievements include:

·        U15 – Welsh Champion, English Champion and National Record Holder

·        U17 – Welsh Champion, English Champion and County Record Holder

·        U20 – Welsh Champion and English Championship medalist

·        Currently National Leader of all age groups including seniors

·        Celtic Games Champion for 2 years and Record holder (Wales, Scotland, Ireland)

·        Welsh schools Record

·        Competed for Wales at U15, U17 and U20.

·        Handpicked for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme in Loughborough

·        Hand selected for the Men’s British Athletics League
