National Poetry Day 2017

On the 28th September 2017 Bishop Vaughan celebrated National Poetry Day. An event was held in the library which gave pupils the chance to think about what freedoms and rights they enjoy, and to write a short poem about what freedom means to them. Pupils could also decorate a dove, find out about some famous freedom fighters such as Malala and Martin Luther King, and just relax and read some poetry.

Pupils came up with phrases such as, “Freedom means happiness and a big bright future.”

“You can live free as a bird, you can travel as high as you can.”

“Freedom means you are a bird that cannot be caught.”
