Local MP Visits Bishop Vaughan School
Carolyn Harris, MP for Swansea East, visited Bishop Vaughan last week as part of the Parliament Week. She met with a group of Year 12 pupils to discuss what Parliament does, what the daily life on an MP involves and how elections work.
As part of her visit, the pupils held a mock election and made sure it followed all the correct procedures, from candidates’ speeches, to secret ballots and an official count by the Returning Officer. The pupils were also able to take part in a Q&A session with Carolyn, where they discussed current political issues, as well as how Parliament has changed over the past 200 years – the topic they are studying for their AS History course.
