Following on from their visit to the Morfa-Hafod Copperworks site, the Year 10 team attended the final of the Heritage Apprentice competition last week. Run by Swansea University, the competition asked for ideas on how to regenerate the site and secure its future survival.
The BVS team came up with some great ideas, including developing a community park called Parc Copr in the centre of the site. They presented their ideas to a panel of judges, including members of the History department at the university. All the judges were very impressed with the plans, as well as the professionalism with which our pupils presented their ideas.
Unfortunately, the team did not win the competition. However, they were highly commended by the judges. Miss Cole, who accompanied the team during the competition, said: 'The girls were incredibly enthusiastic throughout and worked really hard on their ideas and presentation. They are a real credit to the school.'
