Sixth Form students at Bishop Vaughan School marked World Book Day with a number of events on Thursday.
Mr McKay and the Y12 Book ‘n’ Brew reading club arranged a Book Swap stall for the day. Staff and students brought in copies of their favourite books and swapped them for another book. The donated books had messages of recommendation written inside, adding a personal touch to the swaps. The Book ‘n’ Brew club also gave out bookmarks to every student in Year 12 and Mr McKay provided cakes and sweets throughout the day to those using the Book Swap stall.
Many sixth formers also entered the Costume Competition to see which students had the best costume based on a book. There was a strong field, including Bilbo Baggins, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and a Deatheater from Harry Potter but the eventual winners were Jolia and Siobhan, who came dressed as Roald Dahl’s Twits. The pair won an Amazon voucher for their efforts and were particularly pleased to receive their prize from none other than Narnia’s Aslan.
